For therapists practicing in Mexico

SimplePractice alternative for therapists in Mexico

Wellbloom is a SimplePractice alternative designed for therapists practicing in Mexico: appointment confirmations and reminders over WhatsApp, billed in Mexican pesos at a flat $400 MXN per month. SimplePractice is excellent software for US practices — but its prices are published in US dollars, its insurance tools are built around US claims, and WhatsApp is not among its reminder channels.

Does SimplePractice work in Mexico?

The honest answer: SimplePractice is built for practices in the United States. Its own Terms of Service (last updated August 2, 2023) state that its services are United States-based and make no warranty that they are appropriate for use outside the US (SimplePractice Terms of Service, 2023). The same Terms define a service "Territory" — where accounts may only be established and accessed — as the United States and Canada, a definition the Terms note may be modified from time to time. Mexico falls outside it.

The feature set follows the same logic. SimplePractice's electronic insurance claim submission is only available for use with United States insurance companies, per its own Help Center guidance for practitioners outside the US (SimplePractice Help Center, 2026), and its insurance billing is built around the CMS-1500 claim form used in US health insurance (SimplePractice Help Center, 2026). If you practice in Mexico, you don't bill US insurers — so these flagship features simply don't apply to your consultorio.

One practical point on data: SimplePractice stores clients' protected health information on servers located in the United States, and its own guidance tells practitioners outside the US to disclose this to their clients (SimplePractice Help Center, 2026). That same article notes SimplePractice is fully HIPAA compliant and that each provider remains responsible for the rules that apply where they practice. In Mexico, the framework that applies to your practice is the LFPDPPP, not HIPAA — our guide to the HIPAA equivalent in Mexico explains what that means.

How much does SimplePractice cost — and is there pricing in pesos?

SimplePractice offers three solo-practitioner plans: Starter at $49 USD/month, Essential at $79 USD/month, and Plus at $99 USD/month (SimplePractice Help Center, 2026). At the time of verification, a limited-time 50%-off introductory promotion was running, with the standard $49/$79/$99 prices shown struck through on the pricing page — SaaS pricing changes often, so check the official page for current numbers.

There is no peso pricing. SimplePractice's pricing is published in US dollars (USD): the pricing page's own product markup declares USD as the currency, and no other currency or currency selector appears anywhere on the page (SimplePractice pricing page, 2026). If you earn in pesos, your software cost moves with the exchange rate every month. Its integrated credit card processing — which per its payout documentation supports US and Canadian accounts — costs 3.15% + $0.30 USD per successful transaction (SimplePractice Help Center, 2026).

Wellbloom is priced for Mexico: $400 MXN per month, flat, with no commission on your payments and no add-on packs.

Why do reminders need WhatsApp in Mexico?

Because that's where your clients actually are. 91% of internet users in Mexico have an active WhatsApp account — the #1 platform in the country, ahead of Facebook (85%) (Asociación de Internet MX, 21° Estudio de Hábitos de Usuarios de Internet, 2026). Sending messages through apps like WhatsApp is also the #1 online activity among Mexican internet users (67%), well ahead of email (48%, ranked 5th) in the same study. Mexico's national ENDUTIH survey points the same way: in 2024, 90.6% of smartphone users used instant-messaging apps — the most-used app category (INEGI/IFT, ENDUTIH 2024).

SimplePractice's reminders are sent by email, text (SMS), or voice call — WhatsApp is not an offered channel, as documented as of June 2026 (SimplePractice Help Center, 2026). Those channels fit US clients well. For clients in Mexico, a confirmation that arrives on WhatsApp — the app they already check every day — is far more likely to be seen and answered. Wellbloom's confirmations don't just notify: they ask, and your client replies with one tap, Sí or No.

What does Wellbloom include?

  • Online scheduling

Clients book from your real-time availability, no back-and-forth.

  • WhatsApp confirmations

One-tap confirmation (Sí or No) before every session.

  • WhatsApp reminders

Automatic reminders as the appointment approaches.

  • Payment tracking

Mark sessions as paid and always know who owes you.

  • Session links

Attach and manage the link for your online sessions.

  • Rescheduling via WhatsApp

If a client can't make it, reschedule over WhatsApp and free the slot.

  • Patient list

Your whole caseload organized in one place, bilingual interface (es-MX/EN).

To be fair in the other direction: Wellbloom tracks payments but does not process or collect money, and it does not issue CFDI tax receipts. There is no client portal, and WhatsApp messages to your clients are in Spanish by default — the app interface itself is bilingual (Spanish and English). Automatic late-cancellation charges are coming soon, not a current feature. If you bill US insurance, SimplePractice is the right tool; this page is for therapists who practice in Mexico. If you see clients in both languages, here's how bilingual therapists in Mexico use Wellbloom.

FAQ: SimplePractice and Mexico

Does SimplePractice work in Mexico?

SimplePractice is built for practices in the United States. Its own Terms of Service (last updated August 2, 2023) state that the services are United States-based and make no warranty that they are appropriate for use outside the US, and they define a service territory — where accounts may be established and accessed — as the United States and Canada, so Mexico falls outside it. Therapists in Mexico can technically use a web app from anywhere, but the key workflows are US-centric: prices are published in US dollars and electronic insurance claim submission works only with United States insurance companies.

What does Wellbloom cost in USD?

Wellbloom is billed in Mexican pesos, not US dollars: a flat $400 MXN per month with no commission on your payments. We do not quote a USD equivalent because exchange rates change daily — whatever the rate does, your price stays $400 MXN. The free trial lasts 2 weeks with no credit card, and you get 3 months free when you sign up and book a short onboarding call.

Can my clients confirm appointments by WhatsApp?

Yes. Wellbloom sends your client a WhatsApp message before each session and they confirm with one tap — Sí or No. Reminders and rescheduling also happen over WhatsApp, the channel clients in Mexico already check every day. Messages to clients are sent in Spanish by default.
